The exhaling sound you hear is coming from Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson once he heard that Boise State is not close in joining the Big East. Reports surfaced yesterday that the Big East was considering adding Boise State as a football-only member, and things escalated quickly and that had due with Air Force who look to be on their way to join the Big East.

According to the New York Times Pete Thamel, he sent out a tweet today saying that Boise State has been informally discussed, but the chances are 'slim to none' that Boise State joins the Big East.

Big East athletic directors are warming up to the idea of adding Boise State, and some of it has to do with keeping their conference alive. With Boise State not looking like a candidate to join the Big East it is even more puzzling that Air Force is on the verge of accepting a bid to the Big East.

This is excellent news for the Mountain West who are going to keep their top football program in the fold and can move forward in this crazy world of conference realignment and possibly be a player to add a school or to by having a big name like Boise State in the league.
