Rocky Long expected to be named 18th head coach at SDSU, Al Borges expected to run Michigan's offense.

So much for the coaching search because the San Diego Union Tribune is reporting that San Diego State University is likely to promote Defensive Coordinator Rocky Long to the position of head coach. SDSU hasn't commented on the issue and it is not known if it is to be a permanent job or if it will be on an interim basis.

They SDUT is also reporting that current Aztecs offensive coordinator Al Borges will join Brady Hoke at Michigan to run the offense for the Wolverines. It is unknown whether or not other coaches that came over with Hoke from Ball State will stay in San Diego or join Brady in Michigan. Borges ran a pro-style offense in San Diego so it will be interesting what he does with the players he has in Michigan.

If Long turns out to be an interim hire there are some other coaches that might be looked at that weren't mentioned in the article linked above. Before being Head Coach of the Jets and Chiefs current ESPN analyst  Herm Edwards played football at San Diego State. Ex Head Coach of the Panthers John Fox who was just recently fired also played football at San Diego State as a teammate of Herm Edwards.

Additionally, two more long shots but Mike Martz and Steve Mariucci both live in San Diego. Mariucci is currently an analyst for NFL Network and Martz was reportedly contacted in the last coaching search.
