Lenn Robbins of the NY Post is reporting that the Big East is considering adding TCU to it's conference.
Two sources said the TCU discussion developed recently. The school’s tradition, academics and recent success have lifted the university’s profile. TCU (4-0) is ranked fifth in the polls and many believe it is currently the best team in Texas.
“It’s a good program in a good market,’’ said the source. “That’s what you look for.’’
Could this have been what Gary Patterson was referring to when he said this in August.
"Let's see what happens in the next two weeks before you make any judgments and see what happens on the national landscape, things I know that maybe you don't know," Horned Frogs coach Gary Patterson said.
As a TCU fan I like the MWC and short of an invite to the SEC or the Big 12 I would prefer for us to stay in the MWC. The Big East is going to be about as unstable a football conference as you could ask for and with one more round of conference expansion it could be completely wiped off the map if the Big 10 goes after say Pitt or Rutgers and the SEC or ACC went after West Virginia. Although being in a BCS conference and all the perks that come with it would be awfully nice... Also TCU has a history with some of the Big East teams (Cincinnati, Louisville, USF) during it's time in C-USA. Probably just a unsubstantiated rumor but it will be interesting to see if there is anything to this story.
