The latest top 25 USA Today Coaches poll and AP poll are out. First up is a look at the coaches poll.
There was one upset that occurred last night when Arizona used an early half time lead to hold off Iowa. That outcome allowed Utah to move up into the 13th spot; while Nevada who has been nothing but impressive this year in all three wins and are just outside of the coaches poll. I guess the coaches -- or secretaries, SID's, neighbors -- who vote in the coaches poll discount their wins over Eastern Washington and Colorado State. Those teams are not that good, but they thoroughly crushed those teams as they did against Cal who was previously ranked in the polls.
Texas still sits above TCU even though they have shown very little offensively this year, and then Nebraska received a first place vote for dominating a Washington team that is not any good even though they have Jake Locker who is drooled upon by Todd McShay and other NFL scouts. Well, McShay is not really a scout or is any good at evaluating talent; remember Jevan Snead from Ole Miss.
Michigan State and Oklahoma State are the two new teams in today's polls.
The AP poll is out as well and the oddest item is not that Nevada is not ranked -- they should be -- but Air Force is 26th in the poll after almost beating Oklahoma. While, it is good to see credit going to a good loss, because that is something that is rarely seen in college football, but a beat down win over a now former top 25 team would be higher. Air Force received 44 points where 25th ranked Michigan State had 45 points, and Nevada has 41.
My biggest concern of the AP poll is that James Madison is getting votes! FCS teams have their own poll to vote in, and who cares if they beat Virginia Tech they have their own poll.
Utah moves up to 14 with the Iowa loss to Arizona, Boise State and TCU are still at 3rd and 4th respectively, and Nebraska jumped up to sixth over there AMAZING win over a bad Washington team. Nothing else to see here, so on to the polls.
