TCU vs. Tennessee Tech: Preview

The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles are an FCS school from the Ohio Valley Conference coached by Watson Brown (Texas Head Coach Mack Brown's older brother).  Jacksonville State, who just took down Ole Miss in double-OT is also a member of the OVC.  Lucky for us TTU is no Jacksonville State, TTU is 0-25 all-time against FBS schools losing the last 8 since 2005 by 32 points or more.  TTU went to Arkansas in week 1 and lost 44-3, gaining only 187 yards while giving up 519 to the Hogs.  Coupled with the fact Gary Patterson won't ever let himself overlook an FCS opponent again after losing to Northwestern State in 2001, and you don't have to worry about the potential upset.

With that in mind I would look at this game as a glorified scrimmage for the Frogs.  An opportunity to work out some kinks and get alot of younger, more inexperienced guys into game-action.  On offense I'd like to see that running backs Aundre Dean and Waymon James, as well as backup quarterback Casey Pachall see significant snaps.  On defense hopefully the young corners and defensive ends can be brought up to speed in order to be ready for the conference slate.

Random Notes:

-Tennessee Tech was Gary Patterson's first paid coaching job

-TTU's starting running back Jocques Crawford was offered a scholarship to TCU out of JUCO in 2008 but instead signed with Mark Mangino at Kansas.  How did that work out of you Jocques?

-This game will not be televised but will be streamed live via KTCU.

Prediction: 41-17 TCU
