New Mexico -

The Lobos' Men's Basketball Head Coach Steve Alford received a contract extension on Tuesday.

"I know a lot of our fans wanted to know how we could keep Steve at UNM," Krebs said. "This is how. We appreciate his commitment to our school, community and state."

Danny Granger is now one of the many people impressed with The Pit's rennovations.

"I thought it was amazing," Granger said of his stroll through University Arena. "They are doing stuff in there that we don't even have in Indiana (Pacers). They even have a basketball court in the weight room so you can do weight lifting and incorporate it with basketball movement."

How are summer workouts going?

Clark
"They're going pretty good. I'm coming off a knee surgery so I'm rehabbing, but I'm doing about 70 percent of what everybody else is doing. I'm trying to get myself back right to where I can be a big key of this team this year. Overall, everyone is working hard and being positive."

Look out, TCU basketball may be pretty good next year.

Tony Vitello was hired as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for the TCU Baseball program.

"The timing could not be better to join the baseball family at TCU," said Vitello. "The athletic department as a whole is taking off, but the baseball program recently impacted people nationwide with the exposure they earned in Omaha."

The Utes head coach of the baseball program is the head coach of the U.S. national team this year. The U.S. goes to Rosenblatt Staidum to face Japan.

Tomorrow night I think we'll really see it. This is one of the highlight games of the year, playing Japan. I think it will be a real good test for our guys and I think that part of it will emerge. Once we leave the country, I think it will emerge even more.

BYU -

Jimmer Fredette was named the most explosive player in College Basketball by Rivals.com

Rivals.com named 10 players to the list with Fredette earning the top spot for his scoring average (22.1 – seventh in the nation in 2009-10), his range (.440 shooting from three last season) and his two 40 point games (BYU record 49 vs. Arizona and 45 vs. TCU).

Jimmer Fredette is apparently considered a great player by the media even though he doesn't play in a conference named the Big East or ACC. Dick Vitale named Jimmer to his pre-season all-american team.

BYU guard Jimmer Fredette has been named to Dickie V’s Preseason All-America First Team. This marks the first preseason All-America honor and third preseason accolade for the Glens Falls, N.Y., native, who was named to five All-America teams and the All-MWC First Team in 2009-10.

San Diego State -

SDSU football is looking better and better by the day. Senior Wide Receiver Vincent Brown was named to the College Football Insider's Pre-Season All-American Team.

Brown is one of just 10 players from the Mountain West Conference to be recognized by CFI. He enters his senior season with 140 career receptions, already the 10th most in SDSU history.

Prior to an Oct. 24 injury that ended his 2009 campaign, Brown ranked top 10 nationally in receiving yards, receptions per game and all-purpose yards. He also exceeded 100 receiving yards in five of his six contests and was one of just five juniors to make the Biletnikoff Award semifinal list.

SDSU football is looking great now with an all-american at Wide Receiver and a 3,000 yard passer in Ryan Lindley.

San Diego State can't wait for basketball season to start. They're already giving a preview of the team.

Head coach Steve Fisher returns five starters for just the third time in his coaching career. While at Michigan, the 1992-93 squad returned everyone from the season before, reached the NCAA championship game and finished with a 31-5 record. In 2008-09, Fisher's Aztecs had all five starters back and that group went on to win a school-record 26 games and advanced to the NIT semifinals.
