I know everyone has been tied up in the College Football chaos, but this is kind of a big deal!
TCU topped in-state rival Texas 4-1 to win the Austin Super Regional to become the first TCU team and the first team in the 11-year history of the MWC to advance to the College World Series in Omaha. Sophomore phenom Kyle Winkler gave up no runs in 7 2/3 innings with 5 strikeouts to lead the Horned Frogs. TCU will be one of eight teams in the double-elimination College World Series Tournament.
You can read the MWC release and the ESPN column which highlights the Horned Frogs doing their dog-pile on the outfield Longhorns logo to get their revenge after being eliminated by Texas a year ago. All of this after being blasted 14-1 yesterday, a game which forced the decisive game 3, which went to the Horned Frogs this time. The College World Series will begin June 19.
