Looking at 2011 Recruits: BYU's Kesni Tausinga

A reoccurring feature that we will be doing here where we take a look at 2011 commits in the MWC.

Again before we get too deep into these players a lot of them have not been evaluated by the respective services and those links will be updated through the summer and fall.

Name:  Kesni Tausinga

School:  BYU

Position:  Defensive Tackle

Height/Weight:  6'0" 255 pounds

High School:  Bingham High in South Jordan, Utah

Offers: Utah and Washington

Date Committed:  3/27/2010

Recruiting Profiles:  RivalsScoutESPNMax Preps

Another early recruit for BYU which has been the norm and he comes from one of the better programs in the state.  His stats were not too impressive with 51 total tackles and two sacks in a 14 game schedule.  To play defensive tackle he will need to fill out his frame, and this seems to be a common denominator with early verbal commits. He joins three South Jordan (Utah) Bingham teammates on the Cougars' list, so that should help with the transition -- as long all three keep their commit.

He has a tremendous burst off the ball and changes direction well for his size. He's relentless in pursuit and even though with his size at the moment projects to play nose guard or tackle in BYU's scheme.  Even with his current size he is strong with his compact weight with a 285 max bench and 365 squat.  When including the 2010 class Tausinga is the fourth defensive lineman to commit to BYU; with a potential for one or two more once the 2011 class take shape.
