Looking at 2011 Recruits: BYU's Alex Kuresea

Name:  Alex Kuresea

School:  BYU

Position:  Quarterback

Height/Weight:  6'0''/166

High School: Mountain Crest HS, Hyrum, Utah

Offers: BYU and Utah State

Date Committed:  February 10, 2010

Recruiting Profiles:  Rivals, Scout, ESPN, MaxPreps

First off the lack of size is a huge alarm and who knows if he will grow another inch or so and put on some much needed weight.  Kuresea may need to take a cue from Utah's Jordan Wynn who put on huge weight to get division one ready.  He is entering the class right after Jake Heaps which could mean Kuresea may not see playing time for a few years.  However, BYU is different and Kuresea may head on a church mission -- like a lot of BYU athletes do -- and not have to battle with Heaps or wait till his career is done for one year of starting play.

His high school team put up huge numbers this past year with eight of their twelve games scoring 35 or more points. His team made it to the state finals before falling to Timpview.  He plays in a system similar to BYU in high school that features the passing game with multiple wide receiver sets and plays out of the shotgun, so he does fit the BYU quarterback system.
