The San Diego State Aztecs are going to their first bowl game as a member of the Mountain West Conference and it will be the first time they have been bowling since 1998. That year the Aztecs went to the Las Vegas Bowl where they lost to North Carolina 20-17. The Aztecs will be playing at home against the Navy Midshipman who are 9-2 and have one game left against their rival Army in two weeks.

The announcement was to come after the BCS selections were made, but since TCU is assured of a BCS game the Poinsettia Bowl was able to take home town San Diego State. This also means that Utah is most likely going to the Las Vegas Bowl.
