With the timeline now finalized for Fresno State and Nevada waiting an extra year in the WAC, questions about scheduling have now arrived for a number of schools with the MWC and WAC schools now requiring 5 non-conference games. I went to fbschedules.com and dug up tons of little nuggets as far as future non-conference games go... I'll list those here so that the people (myself included) who did not know about these games can find out. I'll simply go through the important non-conference games for the future years for MWC teams (Including Utah and BYU). There will be a post for each team on every Tuesday and Thursday and the posts will be in no specific order. If you want to find out which school's post is for that day, then follow us on Twitter for the information on when the post will be.
So Far In The Series
San Diego State
Colorado State
2011 Schedule - Northern Colorado, Colorado, @Utah State, San Jose State
This schedule looks pretty weak, but that's exactly what the Rams need since they will be coming off yet another season without a bowl game. All of these games could be wins and Colorado looks to be a very possible win, with the Buffaloes in transition and the Rams looking much better than they did at the start of the season that began with a 24-3 loss to these same Buffaloes. The 2011 schedule still isn't filled out yet though since they now need 5 non-conference games. I'm not sure who the Rams will schedule, but looking at history, Steve Fairchild will probably be looking for a weak FBS team to beat up on at home.
2012 Schedule - Colorado, North Dakota State, @San Jose State, Utah State
Um... Any similarities? Practically the same schedule as the season before. The interesting thing though is that all signs are pointing to a 9 game conference schedule in 2012, so the Rams may have to get rid of one of these opponents - I vote for ND State.
2013 Schedule - Colorado, @Tulsa, Cal Poly, UTEP
I'm not really sure why Colorado State scheduled their UTEP home game for this year... They put themselves in possibly the same situation if the MWC expands to 12. Of coures, if the MWC does go to 12 then UTEP will probably become a conference game anyway, but either way you look at it, this schedule is full.
Other Non-Conference Games -
2014 - Colorado, Tulsa, @UTEP
2015 - Minnesota, Colorado, @UTSA
2016 - Colorado, @Minnesota, UTSA
2017 - Colorado, UTSA
2018 - Colorado, UTEP, @UTSA
2019 - Colorado
2020 - Colorado
Bits on the 2014+ Games -
Note that every game against Colorado through 2019 is set to be at Invesco Field, 2020 is listed as a home game for the Rams. Apparently UT-San Antonio is scheduling very tough in their first few years as a football program, I know CSU is no Alabama, but for a team that has never fielded a football team, CSU seems like pretty stiff competition. Minnesota must like scheduling games against Mountain West Opponents, not only did they schedule CSU, but they scheduled UNLV for 2013 and 2014.
