2010 College Football Bowl Projections: TCU To Sugar Bowl?

Time to project where the Mountain West teams will go bowling. A lot of pundits keep insisting that Air Force will go to the Armed Forces Bowl, but if they were to take the time to read the fine print Army is a choice if they are bowl eligible so an Air Force vs. Army rematch is not going to happen. It will be an Army vs. C-USA matchup. These will be based on how the season will end and not as of today's standings.

I know earlier today I posted the BCS Bowl projections earlier today and had the Orange Bowl taking TCU and the Sugar Bowl taking Auburn who loses the SEC title game (or the Iron Bowl) and matching them up with Ohio State. I am now flopping on that.

Sugar Bowl:

TCU Horned Frogs vs. Auburn Tigers

The Sugar keeps their SEC team which will help with ticket sales and so with the first pick why not take the best team available who would be a third ranked TCU

Las Vegas Bowl:

Utah Utes vs. Texas Longhorns

This one is tricky because Texas would have to beat Texas A&M which is a large feet, but I think it is possible. Notre Dame is also a candidate, and could be a choice even if it is a rematch with Utah. The other possible choice is Tennessee or a run of the mill MAC team.

Poinsettia Bowl

San Diego State Aztecs vs. Navy Midshipmen

This game is pretty much set in stone as this would be a home game for the Aztecs and with San Diego being a Navy town a large crowd is expected.

Independence Bowl

Air Force Falcons vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

This will be one of the fastest played games of the year with the dueling triple option attacks.

New Mexico Bowl

BYU Cougars vs. Fresno State Bulldogs

This will be a future matchup next year as BYU is playing a WAC heavy schedule. A good matchup nonetheless but the winner must be prepared to battle the New Mexico Bowl curse where the bowl winner goes onto a losing season the following year.
