Battle for the Bronze Boot in the Border War

The Colorado State Rams(3-8, 2-5) will look to bring the Bronze Boot back to Fort Collins when they take on the Wyoming Cowboys(2-9, 0-7) in War Memorial Stadium.  The Rams are put in a funny situation where they can seek revenge from last year's Border War.

If you missed it or don't remember the Rams fell 16-17 at home after an embarassing drop by Matt Yemm that would have had the Rams in easy field goal range with less then a minute to go.  Yes I still don't like Matt Yemm cause of that play.  The Cowboys took the Bronze Boot in front of my eyes at Hughes Stadium, it didn't feel good.  So I am heading up to the game tomorrow on a party bus and looking for the Rams to take it back!

The curse of the New Mexico Bowl is alive and well in this match up as the Cowboys sit at 0-7 in MWC play.  The Rams went 0-8 after their New Mexico Bowl win in 2008.

For most of the seniors in this game it will be the last time they ever get to put on the shoulder pads and play football.  I am looking at the leading tacklers on both teams to have huge impacts.  For the Cowboys it is senior DB Chris ProsinskiRicky Brewer the senior LB for the Rams will do everything thing he can to get the Bronze Boot back since he was suspended last year and couldn't play in the Border War.  Both seniors have 101 tackles on the season.  The other senior for the Rams that could have a big impact is DL Guy Miller as LB Alex Williams has a knee injury.

On offense it is the two very talented but young quarterbacks in CSU's Pete Thomas and UW's Austyn Carta-Samuels.  ACS has had a decent sophomore season with a 9-8 TD-INT ratio,1435 yards passing, and 346 yards on the ground.  Unfortunately for the UW faithful the wins have not followed.  Thomas has had an impressive 2565 yards passing with a 11-12 TD-INT ratio.  Thomas has his freshman moments but has shown flashes of big time talent.  The quarterbacks have been hurt by sub par rushing games as both teams average just above 110 yards a game.

The winner of this game will be the one with the least mistakes.  It should be a close game as the line is at 2.5 for Wyoming cause of home field advantage.  Who ever can make the big play will end up with the Bronze Boot.

I think the Rams take this one on the road.  Wyoming is struggling as bad as a team can right now after losses to UNM and UNLV.  The Rams forgot to show up last week against BYU, no way it happens two weeks in a row.
