If you missed the Oregon vs. Stanford tilt, well shame on you, because it was a great game. Oregon moved up to third spot after a nice come from behind win. Oregon jumps Boise State even though Boise thumped New Mexico State 59-0. The most egregious error of the poll is having LSU move up in the coaches poll to the nine spot even though if you saw the game LSU played bad and should have lost.
At least in the AP poll LSU stays the same and is jumped by three ideal teams: Utah, Arkansas and Arizona.
This tweet by the Idaho Statesman's Brian Murphy is in response to me saying that LSU should drop because in my opinion the game should be treated as a lost in the polls. He brings logic that if it were a playoff it is a win, he is right but college football does not have a playoff.
@JeremySBN @greggdoyelcbs LSU won. Sure it was ugly. It probably shouldn't have, but they won. It'd advance if there was a playoff.
Just check my blogpoll ballot, because I am dropping LSU quite a bit for their loss ugly win against a bad Tennessee. Just remember that Tennessee was bailed out last week when UAB kicker missed five field goals, as Tennessee won in double overtime.
Getting back to Boise State they may be in a world of hurt, and CBS' Dennis Dodd is predicting that Boise will have a difficult team keeping their ranking:
Oregon plays New Mexico (de facto I-AA) and Portland State (a real I-AA) and jumps Boise? Bad, bad times ahead for Broncos.
As mentioned above, Utah jumped LSU in the AP poll but for some odd reason Arizona who was also on a bye went from 14th to 9th while Utah went from 13th to 10th. By no means am I complaining but it is one of those eye catching things.
Air Force cracks the AP poll at 25th, but they are not in the coaches poll as they are 27th in the other receiving vote category and is just behind Texas. Yeah, Texas who just lost to Oklahoma by a larger margin then Air Force did.
First up is the coaches poll.
