New Mexico Upsets BYU at the Pit 76-72

BYU was riding a 14 game winning streak when they headed into the Pit to take on the New Mexico Lobos, but Dairese Grey lead the Lobos with 25 points in their win over BYU.  Jimmer Fredette did as much as he could by scoring 27 points, but besides that and Jonathan Taveneri's 17 points BYU did not receive much more help.

Neither team played particularly well as both shot 38 percent from the field and forty percent, but the real difference was that New Mexico had more free throws then BYU which was why they won.  Had New Mexico shot even a decent percentage this game would have been a blow out.

This outcome now drastically changes the outcome for the regular season championship as BYU has a loss, but now New Mexico and UNLV are right behind the Cougars with two league losses with still a game to play against each other.
