Best of the 2000's Counting Down the Mountain West Top 10 Teams: #9 2002 Colorado State Rams

Now, it is time to continue the countdown of the decades best team, and now we move to the number nine spot.

#9 2002 Colorado State Rams (10-4)

Colorado State was the conference champs of the Mountain West that year and were the second best offense in the league with points scored.  Their only conference blemish came against a 5-7 UNLV where their running game rushed nearly 400 yards in the upset win over the Rams 36-33.

Their other losses were all against winning teams Fresno State, UCLA, and then TCU in the Liberty Bowl.  This team was the last of the great Rams teams coached by Sonny Lubbick that was a title contender from the early nineties to the early 2000's. From 1994 to 2002 the Rams won six conference titles.

The leaders of this team was dual threat quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt who was the 2002 offensive player of the year.  In total the Rams had six players on the first team and then six more on the conference second team.
