For a change of pace for the Aztecs, it was TCU with the lead at half that was blown by the time the game was over. TCU controlled for a large part of the game due to their sharp-shooting especially from beyond the arc. The Horned Frogs took a 9 point lead into the half but SDSU rallied to take the lead with around 9 minutes to go. The game remained close with TCU hitting a 3 to pull with 2 points with around 30 seconds to go, but clutch free throw shooting by Billy White and a costly TCU turnover gave the Aztecs their 14th straight victory at home dating back to last season. SDSU is still undefeated at Viejas Arena this season.

The top three scorers for TCU all scored in double digits tonight as Zvonko Buljan, Edvinas Ruzgas, and Keion Mitchem led the charge. The Horned Frogs were on FIRE in the first half shooting 70% from the field and hit 6 of their 8 free throws. They started the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back. No team can continue that pace all game although TCU did finish over 52% from the field but only hit 7 of 21 shots in the second half. Ultimately, too many turnovers (20) did in the Horned Frogs.
Ruzgas led the team with 16 points and added 4 rebounds. Buljan had 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 block but also had NINE turnovers himself. Someone needs to work on ball control. Mitchem was the other Horned Frog in double digits with 12 points. Speaking of point guards, Ronnie Moss had a whopping 10 assists to go with 6 boards and 6 points, but also had 6 turnovers. Hmmm 666.
The Aztecs didn't play much defense in the first half but continued their gameplan and played a pretty typical game shooting around 50% from the field for the game which is where they usually are including 32 points in the paint. They are a big long physical team so getting the ball inside is too their advantage over smaller quicker players. They were also able to amass 24 points off of turnovers which is nice to do it to someone else for a change. Free throw shooting still didn't improve, hitting only 60% but Billy White did hit them in the end when it mattered most.
Kawhi Leonard had kind of an off game; the nations second leading freshman rebounder only pulled down 3 boards tonight but had 9 points and 2 blocks. The Aztecs had 3 players in double digits; Malcolm Thomas, Billy White, and Kelvin Davis. Malcolm Thomas has really taken over as of late and tonight was no different as he had 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Billy White, back from injury, lead the team with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Kelvin Davis rounds out the group with 10 points.
