We now return to our regular programming since the very brief flirtation between Troy Calhoun and Tennessee is in the books. Now, it is time to continue the countdown of the decades best team.
#10 2007 BYU Cougars (11-2)
This was the start of the Max Hall era at BYU, but this team got off to a rocky start by starting the season 1-2 with loses to UCLA and Tulsa. After those games BYU ended up going undefeated but this was not a dominant BYU team as they have been in the past. Five of their wins came by ten points or less, and against bad teams such as UNLV and a mediocre New Mexico Lobos squad.
This team did know how to win those games and for them to win eleven games with a rookie quarterback in Max hall, but BYU introduced Harvey Unga to the MWC who as a freshman had over 1,200 yards on the ground, as well as over 600 in the passing game, and piled up 17 touchdowns -- still a career best. This team won the conference title while going undefeated and narrowly escaped a rematch with a one point win over UCLA by a blocked extra point.
