This is getting interesting now. Troy Calhoun is having a team meeting today at 3:50pm, but the agenda of the meeting is unknown. Texas' defensive coordinator Will Muschamp declining an offer to be the next Tennessee coach yesterday, and all signs are pointing toward Air Force's Troy Calhoun actually becoming the next Tennessee head coach. The only other candidate to have spoken to Tennessee for the job is current Duke head coach and former Tennessee offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe. He was the offensive coordinator during the Peyton Manning years as well as 2006-2007.
Other candidates that might be of interest to Tennessee are Louisiana Tech's Derek Dooley are two other coaches on Tennessee's list, and the Vols also might be interested in talking to Clemson defensive coordinator Kevin Steele. However, a team meeting with Troy Calhoun sure looks to me that the job is his and that he will be expecting to make that announcement later today when he meets with his team.
Other quick Air Force news is that current defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter has interviewed with Texas A&M for the Aggies' defensive coordinator post and is considered one of their top two choices. So, in one quick swoop the Falcons could be losing two of their top coaches in the same weekend.
