This week was not kind to the Mountain West in the rankings. The Utes dropped out after nearly coming from behind to beat Oregon on the road, and BYU was just waxed at home by Florida State. This is the first time in 13 polls that there are not three Mountain West teams in the polls.
BYU dropped quite a bit from seven in the AP poll to 19 and then 9th to 20th in the coaches poll. Then Utah dropped out of the polls after the loss at Oregon, but a win next week against Louisville could bring the Utes back in the top 25. TCU is hovering around 15 after defeating Texas State.
Also, the Colorado State Rams are receiving some votes and are the other undefeated team in the Mountain West besides Colorado State.
The polls are weird because the coaches poll has Utah still ranked ahead of Oregon by a couple of votes. Do the coaches even watch games? Oh wait they are busy coaching.
In other non-BCS news is that Boise is 8th in the coaches poll and three teams ranked ahead play each other so just by winning Boise has the chance to move up because of attrition. The interesting case is Houston who plays Texas Tech next week and if things go well they get a 13th game in the C-USA title game. Currently they are only 23rd in the coaches poll, but another win over a Big XII would elevate them.
Where do you think the MWC teams should be ranked?
And do not forget to check the polls after the jump.
