Counting Down the Mountain West 2000's Decade Greatest Players: #7 Dontrell Moore RB New Mexico

The countdown of the top 10 list of players of the decade started out with the honorable mention list and now we are moving to the seventh the best player of the past decade.

#7 Dontrell Moore RB New Mexico (2002-2005)

  • MWC Freshman of the Year (2002)
  • First-team All-MWC (2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005)
  • MWC Offensive Player of the Year (2005)
  • Honorable mention SI.com All-American (2005)
  • Doak Walker Award semifinalist (2005)
  • Four straight years of 1,000 yards rushing
Besides these awards Moore was a 1,000 yard rusher in each of his four years and is the only player in Mountain West history to be first team all-league four straight years.  The closest was UNLV's Ryan Wolfe who was first team his freshman year and then his junior and senior year.  For how dominant Moore was he was not able to lead the Lobos to a conference title.
