Five of the six computer rankings are out which for some reason determine who qualifies for a BCS berth, instead of that wacky notion of on the field play. I know that sounds crazy, but we should always trust the all-knowing computer.
The computers for some reason are smitten with LSU despite their lackluster wins on the year --minus Georgia. What jumps out the most is that the number one and two teams in both polls -- Texas and Florida-- are three and four in these simulate rankings. Now the Florida part can easily be taken care of with a win over LSU this weekend, and Texas will be fine if they keep winning because the winner of the Florida/LSU matchup will drop below them and LSU plays Alabama this year.
Boise which could move up from attrition from the above teams losing, but right now the difference is .0526 which is actually a large number and will only increase with Texas tougher games ahead. The computers LOVE Boise and they are fourth in the combined five of six computer rankings; that puts them ahead of Texas and Florida. The computers also really like Iowa with four polls having them second or third.
TCU which is the other undefeated non-BCS team is getting zero love from the computers, but all it will take is one Boise lose and for them to go undefeated and they are in as they are currently 11th in the standings. Only one computer poll has them in the top five while the others have them from 12 to 17. BYU which is trying to be the first one loss non-BCS team to qualify is sitting at a distant 22nd with only three computers even ranking them, and those have them in the upper 20's.
Now, these are simulated numbers and not the official BCS rankings, but with seven of the eight components they are not far off. The official standings will be released October, then the round of who got disrespected can begin.
Below the jump is the simulated BCS standings from BCS Guru, they included both the coaches poll, harris poll, and five of the six computers with only Peter Wolfe'ss computer rankings not available.
