The biggest news coming from this press conference is that senior safety Joe Dale will be out 3-4 weeks with an injured knee. The timing couldn't be any worse for the Utes with the Air Force game coming up. Dale is the Utes best tackling safety and was a large part of their defensive scheme for Falcons who love to run. His replacement will likely be Justin Taplin-Ross who is talented but a bit inexperienced.
Whittingham also noted that Terrance Cain's tweaked ankle should not be an issue. Defensive tackle Lei Talamaivao and offensive lineman Walter Watts are making progress with their injuries but are still doubtful for the Air Force game this Saturday.
Shaky Smithson is back from his injury, Whittingham noted that he could have played against UNLV if he was needed but the Utes held off. He should be good to go for the Air Force game.
