Nevada-Las Vegas Rebels
Spring practice starts: March 9
Spring game: April 17
3 Things to watch
- Quarterback Omar Clayton, who suffered a season-ending knee injury against TCU will be ready for spring ball. However Mike Clausen who filled in for the last month of the season did impress with completing 70-of-125 passes for 767 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. There could be a quarterback battle, but it is safe to assume Clayton will be the starter and Clausen will be used to push Clayton.
- Defense, defense, and some more defense. Five of the front seven do return, but the 2008 defense was ranked104th in the nation.
- The Rebels loose a lot of offense in running back Frank Summers. Backup running back C.J. Cox had 16 carries for 191 yards and a touchdown, so running back will be a high priority.
