This was a very ugly game the weather was a factor with the wind, but also what was Ugly was the Utah offense. The defense and special teams are how Utah scored points, 21 came from that area. Sean Smith lead the way with an interception returned for a touchdown, then the new addition Aiona Key who has been playing special teams blocked and returned the punt for a score, and then Ray Rice recovered a fumble off of a botched punt for another score.
The defense did very well by getting three interceptions and two fumbles in the game, as well as holding Wyoming to 252 total yards. Also, Wyoming used three different quarterbacks for the second straight week.
While the score was a blowout the Utah offense was dreadful. They did have short fields and turnovers created points and the wind was somewhat of a factor in this game, but it was bad.
Even in the 'wind' the Utah running game had nothing, they ended up with 123 yards for a 2.8 yard per carry average, but if you take out quarterback Corbin Louks who had 50 yards per carry the Utah rushing game had 73 yards for an average of 2.08 per carry. Those yards gained by Louks were not in garbage time, because Louks saw time in the first half of the game.
This is good news and bad news because Utah is 7-0 and ranked #13 in the coaches poll, and is averaging 38 points per game, but the offense has yet to play a complete game. The offense did not have a turnover and had very few penalties, but with all of this talent one would think this team could get yards at will and pass on any team.

TCU may have been looking past the Rams to their big showdown this Thursday against BYU. For the third straight week Marcus Jackson was the starter at quarterback in place of the injured Andy Dalton. In Dalton's place Jackson has not lost a game and this week was serviceable with 166 passing yards and 53 on the ground, but he did have a pick.
The Rams were able to contain the Horned Frog rushing attack to only 151 yards per game, and most importantly they stopped the big run play that TCU seems to have every week. The Rams were also opportunistic in the turnovers by forcing three against TCU, but the Rams where only able to convert one of those into their lone touchdown of the night.
The big news for the Rams was that Klay Kubiak saw significant action at quarterback and looked decent in this game. Their next game could be interesting on who is going to start. The big playmaker for the Rams was tight end Kory Sperry who had over 104 yards and the Rams prime target.
TCU had trouble with penalties which stalled drives by accumulating 115 penalty yards in the game. TCU was able to eek out a win over a much improved Ram team, but their running game which is usually solid was stuffed and combine that with poor passing from the quarterback the Horned Frogs may be worried this Thursday.

BYU had the same type of game as TCU and Utah, they all win, play good defense, but not overly impressive. This game was the toughest opponent that BYU has played all year, but the Lobos could not do much offensively.
A few things about the game I noticed, was first off when the game was close at 14-3 and New Mexico was driving they run a nice play that resulted in a touchdown, but there was questionable call on New Mexico. A flag was thrown and called a Lobo lineman for blocking a player in the back, now while watching the play again this was technically the right call but the player even if not touched would not have been able to get to the New Mexico player. Now, that play did not make the difference in the outcome, but if the score is 14 to 10 or 11 if New Mexico goes for two the game could have ended differently.
Then on the same drive on 3rd and long and within reasonable field goal range New Mexico elects to go for the endzone instead of trying to gain a reasonable gain and a near sure field goal. Well the play was unsuccessful, and on 4th and long they do not try a field goal but go for a touchdown they miss and BYU goes down and scores to put the game away.
New Mexico had a good gameplan which slowed down BYU, but the Lobos did not have the athletes on either side of the ball to make good plays.
Max Hall kept up his outside bid for the Heisman by throwing for three touchdown passes with 265 yards, and wide receiver Austin Collie had another 100 yard game with 162 yards and the touchdown that sealed the game.

Not a surprise here, but in San Diego's defense they did lose their only play maker, their quarterback Ryan Lindley who did not start the game.
Honestly not much to say in this game, because San Diego State is inept on offense and was out gained nearly 4 to 1 in offense. The Aztecs also allowed over 400 yards to the Falcons at home. The only reason San Diego got on the board was that they were able to get two take aways and convert into points.
Chuck Long is gone at the end of this season, if he makes it that far.
