Utah Celebrates 100 Years of Basketball

The Utah Utes this weekend are celebrating their 100 years of hoops and are having a special price of 100 pennies for upper tickets, a nice gimmick but to be honest the Utes attendance has suffered and hopefully this will sell the stadium out. With the Utes on a roll after beating UNLV last week and have won 3 in a row of 4 of 5. The Utes have had a great basketball history with 23 conference titles, in 100 years and that is by far more then any other team in the leagues that Utah has been part of however from 1906 from 1926 the Utes were not part of a conference, so in reality from 1926 to present have won 23 of the 82 regular season titles which is an amazing 28% of league titles. The Utes also have won 3 variations of a national title from the 1916 AAU, 1944 NCAA, and 1947 NIT championships. The best year for Utah has to be the 1998 team that made its way to the national title game against Kentucky who the Utes have always struggled against. The Utes were the first team since 1990 UNLV, who won the title, to be in the final game not from a super power conference. The Utes have had many players go on to the NBA and other successful careers after being a Ute. The Utes are having a huge celebration by having a huge reunion of players for this Saturday's game.

The Utes also announced their All-Century team earlier today and check this link for more details on some of the players
