2/6/2008 MWC Basketball Preview

These previews will be short, because I have been concentrating on recruiting for most of the day, so here we go.

(17-4)(12-8)

Huntsman Center 630PM MT TV:

This is the Utes chance to prove that they belong in the discussion of a top team in the league. The Utes need to play a perfect game to be able to defeat the Rebels. They do have a few factors in their favor: first off the Utes are at home and play good defense when they do play in SLC, also the Rebels have a poor shooting percentage which is in the low 40's so if Utah can apply the pressure they may have a shot at this game. Utah needs to slow down UNLV's Wink Adams, and then have Luke Nevill and Johnnie Bryant show up and have a great game to win. Expect the Utes to be close because they have not been blown out all year, but the Rebels should take this.

(7-15)(8-12)

Auditorium-Arena 7PM MT TV: NONE

What! a non conference game! That is right Wyoming is playing Cal State Bakersfield who is an Independent team. There is not too much detail going to be wasted in this preview, Wyoming is playing at home against a team that has a bad record and plays most games at sea level, so the altitude and environment will be too much for Bakersfield.

(11-9)(17-5)

Marriott Center 7PM MT TV: NONE

TCU is fading fast and this should continue as they travel to the toughest place to play in the league, the Marriott Center. The Horned Frogs have the defense to slow down BYU for at least a half, but they do not have the horses to carry the team to the end. BYU will end up having too much offense for TCU to over come.

(12-8)(15-6)

Cox Arena 8PM PT TV:

This is a game where I wish I had the Mtn. San Diego is on the fringe of a top 2 team in the league while Air Force is the biggest surprise of the year so far in the league. This is a road game and Air Force is young so that will hurt them in that aspect, but this year as shown that the Air Force system is solid no matter who they throw out there and they will compete in this game. If SDSU loses this will put Air Force in a prime position to challenge for a top 3 seed in the conference tourney. The Aztecs are too athletic for Air Force to beat them at home, and should win this.
