Mountain West Conference Media Day

I believe today is the first official day of college football, well for at least this conference. Today starts the 'Media Blitz' down in Vegas. As of early afternoon the Pre Season All-Conference has been announced along side predicted order of finish.

Rk. Team (first place votes) Points
1. TCU (18) 202
2. BYU (3) 178
3. Utah (2) 165
4. New Mexico 120
5. Wyoming 110
6. Colorado State 107
7. Air Force 62
8. San Diego State 56
9. UNLV 35

While my list may differ some from here when I post my team by team review in the next month, a quick comment is the positioning of BYU. This could be my bias coming in, but BYU lost their top QB, RB, TE, and WR and the Utes return 10 offensive starters that includes QB Brian Johnson. As for the defensives BYU is better then the Utes, but I just dont think BYU will get 2nd in the conference just because of the amount of fire power they lost on offense. Plus those 4-6 spots will be VERY close, and I would not be surprised if one of them slide into that 3rd spot or at least tie for 3rd.

Pre-season All-Conference Teams

Offensive Player of the Year Aaron Brown, RB TCU

Defensive Player of the Year Tommy Blake, DE TCU

Special Teams Player of the Year Louis Sakoda, PK, P University of Utah

Freshman of the Year Ricky Brewer, D Colorado State
