Nevada's Stefphon Jefferson had a career game versus the Hawaii Warriors Saturday, rushing for 6 touchdowns and catching another to set a new Nevada school record with 7 total TDs in a game. Jefferson also moved himself to the top of the leaderboards and became the nation's leading rusher (699 total yards on the year). Congrats Stefphon, and keep on runnin' young fella!

I just can't quit you MW Connection. It was announced today that Cary Groth has decided to retire at the end of the academic year (which means next summer essentially). Groth's tenure has been a bit of a fire rod for some Nevada fans, but this gives the university ample time to come up with a suitable replacement.

Trent Johnson, the former Nevada head coach who was at the helm for their '04 sweet 16 run, has been hired to take over as head coach for the TCU Horned Frogs (of former MWC decent). Johnson was most recently the head coach at LSU.

Nevada won their 1st round NIT game over Oral Roberts on Wednesday. The Pack's next game will be at home against Bucknell.

The Nevada Wolf Pack had a couple individual awards handed down to them today with sophomore Deonte Burton taking home POY honors and head coach David Carter taking home COY honors. Wolf Pack senior Olek Czyz joined Burton with a selection to the All-WAC first team. Senior Dario Hunt was selected to the All-WAC second team, and along with sophomore Jerry Evans was selected to the All-WAC defensive team.

After pulling out a triple overtime victory over Fresno State on Saturday night, the Nevada Wolf Pack clinched at least a share of the WAC regular season crown. There's a chance Fresno could get a chance at redemption once the WAC tournament begins, or they may have to wait until next season in MWC play. Also, I may or may not have posted this simply to rub it in ROFLCOPTER16's face.
