If College Football Had a Playoff
If College Football Had A Playoff: No. 1 LSU Vs. No. 7 Boise State
The Final Four is set and the first matchup is the top seeded LSU Tigers taking on the No. 7 seeded Boise St. Broncos. This would be an intriguing game with the SEC going up against the Mountain West and to see if the unmovable LSU defense would be phased by Boise State's passing attack.
I think that Boise State could put up some points, similar to what Oregon did in Week 1, but probably not enough to pull out a win. For all the crap that LSU offense took in the Alabama game by scoring only nine points, they did average 38.5 per game and could get some points against Boise State's defense.
| Boise State |
LSU |
| 43.3 PPG | 38.5 PPG |
| 483.1 Total YPG | 375.3 Total YPG |
| 172.75 Rushing YPG | 215.5 Rushing YPG |
| 310.30 Passing YPG | 160.2 Passings YPG |
| 18.3 Points allowed per game | 10.5 Points allowed per game |
| 315.6 Yards allowed per game | 252.1 Yards allowed per game |
| 110.0 Rushing yards allowed per game | 85.46 Rushing yards allowed per game |
| 210.8 Passing yards allowed per game | 166.6 Passing yards allowed per game |
| +9 Turnover margin | +22 turnover margin |
| 1.67 Sacks per game | 2.77 Sacks per game |
I would never count Boise State out of any game, but this might be the end of the line for them going up against this defense. My prediction would be LSU 34 Boise State 24.
Remember to vote, it lasts only 24 hours.
If College Football Had A Playoff: Final Four Is Set
There were a few upsets in the round of eight which saw No. 7 Boise State beat out No. 3 Oklahoma State, and even though this was done through voting I could see that result happening. The other upset was a minor one with No. 6 Alabama defeating No. 5 Oregon. Top seeded LSU and Alabama moved on as well. Here is the latest bracket and remember reseeding is done in each round, also the Final Four would be played at non-campus location as well.
No. 1 LSU Tigers Vs. No. 7 Boise St. Broncos
No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide Vs. No. 6 Arkansas Razorbacks
What an odd pairing with three SEC teams and then Boise State from the Mountain West.
Voting resumes later today with the LSU vs. Boise State matchup.
If College Football Had A Playoff: No. 5 Oregon Vs. No. 6 Arkansas
The thing about the Arkansas Razorbacks is that they are a good team, but when they go up against elite teams they fall flat. They played both the LSU and Alabama and lost both 38-14 and 41-17, respectively. However, they did beat Texas A&M, Clemson and South Carolina (minus Marcus Lattimore), all whom were ranked in the top-15 at the time of the game.
In this matchup, Arkansas should be able to put up some yards against the Oregon secondary which is 83rd in the nation in pass defense. Oregon is the more balanced of the two teams and are well above average in the running game and good enough in the passing game to be dangerous against most teams.
| Oregon |
Arkansas |
| 46.2 PPG | 37.4 PPG |
| 515.2 Total YPG | 445.8 Total YPG |
| 295.69 Rushing YPG | 138.08 Rushing YPG |
| 219.50 Passing YPG | 307.8 Passing YPG |
| 23.6 Points allowed per game | 22.8 Points allowed per game |
| 381.0 Yards allowed per game | 371.4 Yards allowed per game |
| 137.46 Rushing yards allowed per game | 174.33 Rushing yards allowed per game |
| 243.5 Passing yards allowed per game | 197.1 Passing yards allowed per game |
| +9 Turnover margin | +0 turnover margin |
| 3.31 Sacks per game | 1.83 Sacks per game |
My prediction for this game is that Oregon would win 41 to 35.

If College Football Had A Playoff: No. 3 Oklahoma State Vs. No. 7 Boise State
This game would be just amazing. The over/under would probably set at 80 and that would be conservative. The main difference between these two teams is that the Oklahoma State defense is not very good and ranked 107th in total defense.
However, Oklahoma State makes up for that with a plus 20 turnover margin and getting to the quarterback just over three times a game.
| Boise State |
Oklahoma State |
| 43.3 PPG | 49.3 PPG |
| 483.1 Total YPG | 557 Total YPG |
| 172.75 Rushing YPG | 170.75 Rushing YPG |
| 310.30 Passing YPG | 386.3 Passing YPG |
| 18.3 Points allowed per game | 26.2 Points allowed per game |
| 315.6 Yards allowed per game | 445.7 Yards allowed per game |
| 110.0 Rushing yards allowed per game | 180.08 Rushing yards allowed per game |
| 210.8 Passing yards allowed per game | 265.6 Passing yards allowed per game |
| +9 Turnover margin | +20 turnover margin |
| 1.67 Sacks per game | 3.08 Sacks per game |
What a matchup this would be and I know this sounds like being an MWC homer, but I think Boise State's defense would be the difference in this game. My final score prediction would be Boise State 48 Oklahoma State 44

If College Football Had A Playoff: No. 2 Alabama Vs. No. 8 Kansas State
Kansas State had a knack at winning close games with an offense that was less than stellar. It all came down to Kansas State's Collin Klein who made the plays when they needed it, plus their defense was pretty good. However, Alabama's defense is really good and while I would not want to bet against Kansas State with Klein running their offense, but there is little chance their offense can keep pace with Alabama.
| Alabama |
Kansas State |
| 36.0 PPG | 33.1 PPG |
| 433.4 Total YPG | 343.4 Total YPG |
| 219.83 Rushing YPG | 193.67 Rushing YPG |
| 213.6 Passing YPG | 149.80 Passings YPG |
| 8.8 Points allowed per game | 27.8 Points allowed per game |
| 191.3 Yards allowed per game | 398.8 Yards allowed per game |
| 74.92 Rushing yards allowed per game | 131.5 Rushing yards allowed per game |
| 116.3 Passing yards allowed per game | 267.3 Passing yards allowed per game |
| +6 turnover margin | +13 turnover margin |
| 2.17 Sacks per game | 1.58 Sacks per game |
However, I for some reason think that Collin Klein has the ability to make that one play when Kansas State needs it on third or fourth and short. At the very least Kansas State has the ability to keep the game close, but they would need an extraordinary performance from their defense.
My prediction is that Alabama wins 27-20 over Kansas State.

If College Football Had A Playoff: No. 1 LSU Tigers Vs. No. 12 West Virginia
Round two is underway and the first matchup is a rematch between No. 1 LSU Tigers and No. 13 West Virginia Mountaineers. The last matchup saw LSU manhandle West Virginia 47-21 and that was on the road in Morgantown, and that score could be even bigger with this game being at Baton Rogue.
| LSU | West Virginia |
| 38.5 PPG | 34.9 PPG |
| 375.3 Total YPG | 459.6 Total YPG |
| 215.5 Rushing YPG | 217.75 Rushing YPG |
| 160.2 Passings YPG | 341.8 Passing YPG |
| 10.5 Points allowed per game | 26.3 Points allowed per game |
| 252.1 Yards allowed per game | 340.2 Yards allowed per game |
| 85.46 Rushing yards allowed per game | 140.58 Rushing yards allowed per game |
| 166.6 Passing yards allowed per game | 243.5 Passing yards allowed per game |
| +22 Turnover margin | -2 Turnover margin |
| 2.77 Sacks per game | 2.33 Sacks per game |
The end result should not be any different the second time around. West Virginia did lose to Syracuse and Louisville this year, and neither of those teams are anything too special.
My score prediction would be LSU 42 West Virginia 17.

If College Football Had A Playoff: Round Two Matchups
The first round of the playoffs are over and here is the second round games, and remember all games are still being played at the home of the higher seed and that we reseed the bracket with the highest ranked team facing the lowest ranked team. With the higher seed playing the lower seed it helps ensure that teams that have a good regular season are rewarded.
So, here is this weeks schedule:
No. 1 LSU Tigers vs. No. 13 West Virginia Mountaineers
No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. No. 8 Kansas St. Wildcats
No. 3 Oklahoma St. Cowboys vs, No. 7 Boise St. Broncos
No. 5 Oregon Ducks vs. No. 6 Arkansas Razorbacks
Not a bad slate of matchups, yes we have seen LSU vs. West Virginia, but this time it is in Baton Rogue. Oklahoma State and Boise State could break the scoreboard with both of the high powered offenses lining up.
Round two starts later today, so check back to vote in about 90 minutes.

If College Football Had A Playoff: No. 3 Oklahoma State Vs. No. 14 Northern Illinois
The last first round game is between No. 3 Oklahoma St. Cowboys who were winners of the Big 12 and MAC champion the No. 14 seeded Northern Illinois Huskies. Both teams have an offense to keep everyone entertained, but Northern Illinois has not seen this type of offense and looking at the Huskies defense they will have an issue stopping the Oklahoma State offense.
This game probably would be interesting for a half or so since Oklahoma State's defense is less than desired, but they do force turnovers and are plus 20 in that category.
| Northern Illinois |
Oklahoma State |
| 38.3 PPG | 49.3 PPG |
| 481.8 Total YPG | 557 Total YPG |
| 247.62 Rushing YPG | 170.75 Rushing YPG |
| 234.2 Passing YPG | 386.3 Passing YPG |
| 31.1 Points allowed per game | 25.8 Points allowed per game |
| 417.8 Yards allowed per game | 445.7 Yards allowed per game |
| 178.08 Rushing yards allowed per game | 180.08 Rushing yards allowed per game |
| 239.8 Passing yards allowed per game | 265.6 Passing yards allowed per game |
| +2 Turnover margin | +20 turnover margin |
| 1.92 Sacks per game | 3.08 Sacks per game |
My prediction is Oklahoma State winning 49 to 24 over Northern Illinois.
