Wyoming lands 2nd verbal in WR C.J. Johnson!

Coach Bohl and staff land Bellevue (NE) West standout

When Craig Bohl took over the Wyoming football program after last season he made the point that when it comes to recruiting, Nebraska would be a focal point of his plans.

So far, so good for Wyoming as the Cowboys have picked up a verbal commitment from 6'2", 185-pound wide receiver C.J. Johnson out of Bellevue (NE) West high school.  Johnson is rated as a 3-star prospect and the #74 wide receiver in the country per Rivals.  He had 1,364 yards receiving and 17 touchdowns last season.

Johnson selected the Cowboys over offers from Ohio, Western Michigan, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Liberty and Illinois State.  Johnson had also camped at the likes of Nebraska, Wisconsin and Kansas State.

The Nebraska offer was the one scholarship Johnson had been holding out on.  His father, Clester had played for the Huskers back during their glory years of the 90's.  As time passed, it was apparent that Nebraska was not going to offer even after very strong performance at the Nebraska summer camp this past month.  Johnson made the decision he would turn toward those that had always been there for him in his recruitment and it just happened to be Wyoming was the school he felt most comfortable with in the end.

Coach Bohl's strong Nebraska ties paid off in the end.  Bohl came onto the Nebraska staff as an assistant during Clester's senior season.  Not to mention Wyoming has been working on C.J. for quite a long period of time.  They extented a offer to him dating back to Wyoming's first junior day this past spring.

With Johnson's verbal, Wyoming now has two verbals after Aurora (CO) Gateway ATH Kevin Prosser verballed to the Cowboys back on the 16th of May.
