Canadian Defensive End is the latest 2014 signee for Wyoming

Troy Babbitt-USA TODAY Sports

Surrey (Holy Cross) British Columbia defensive end Jonathan Kongbo signs with Wyoming.

Just this past week Wyoming saw themselves add a late signee in Tigard, Oregon middle linebacker A.J. Hotchkins but he was not the end of the 2014 class.  The Cowboy staff has now added a Canadian defensive end in 6'6", 250-pound Jonathan Kongbo out of Holy Cross High School in Surrey, British Columbia.

Kongbo had been recruited by the old Wyoming staff but the recruitment carried over when Pete Kaligis was retained by new head coach Craig Bohl.  He had actually received his offer from the Cowboys back the 28th of January.

Even though his recruitment was under the radar in the United States, Kongbo was literally offered by all 32 colleges and universities in Canada that play football.  The schools he was looking the closes at in Canada were British Columbia, Calgary, Western, Laval and Manitoba.  In the states the schools were Montana State, Northern Colorado, Villanova and lastly Wyoming.  He had to make a decision not only what school he was going to attend in either Canada or the United States but also what sport he was going to play.  He was also a well thought of basketball player.  In the end Kongbo knew a chance to play FBS football was to much to pass up.

A tall, very athletic and rangy defensive end, Kongbo still has plenty of room to grow physically as a player.   Kongbo joins Tucson, Arizona John Jackson Jr. as defensive end signees.  Both Littleton, Colorado Conner Cain and Cedar Rapids, Iowa Daniel Vega could also end up as defensive ends but are mostly projected as defensive tackles in time.

It is unknown currently if Kongbo is the last player to sign in the 2014 recruiting class but none the less the Wyoming staff have closed strong.
