2013 Mountain West tournament: Tony Snell named tournament MVP

USA TODAY Sports

New Mexico's Tony Snell was named as the Most Valuable Player of the 2013 Mountain West tournament.

The New Mexico Lobos knocked of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels to claim the Mountain West tournament title, and Tony Snell led the Lobos all the way.

In the tournament title game, Snell went 8 for 11 with 21 points, and for the tournament he averaged 17.67 points, shot 51.5 percent from the field including 12 of 22 from beyond the three-point line. Snell was key in the San Diego State game as he hit three straight shots from beyond the arc to pull away from the Aztecs.

Had UNLV won the tournament, the MVP would have gone to Anthony Bennett as he showed up big in this tournament. Bennett averaged 19 points and 7.67 rebounds per game, and he was the reason that the Rebels were able to keep it close against New Mexico in the finals.

2013 Mountain West all-tournament team:

Colton Iverson, Colorado State
Anthony Bennett, UNLV
Katin Reinhardt, UNLV
Cameron Bairstow, New Mexico
MVP: Tony Snell, New Mexico
