There are six games in Mountain West play this week with one non-conference game with the other five games being league contests. The one out of conference game is Hawaii staying on the road as they make a likely easier trip to take on Navy.
Here are this week's games and the odds that have been assigned to them.
Air Force at New Mexico (-3): This line actually changed very quickly from the opening line of New Mexico being favored by a point, but after just a few days has crept up to give the Lobos a field goal home favorite. Being given three points basically means that the Lobos are favored due to them being at home. This should be a close game since neither team is all that great, but based on Air Force's emergence in their win over Army last week they should cover and win this game.
Nevada at Colorado State (-9.5): The Rams have played fairly well the past few weeks despite falling to Boise State this past weekend. The defense is the reason why Colorado State is playing better, and also not to be forgotten is Kapri Bibbs. Nevada can put up points so this line seems a bit high, and the Wolf Pack should be able to at least cover
Hawaii at Navy (-17): Travel really hurt Hawaii against Utah State last week, and the Warriors are staying on the mainland this week to help with travel. While Navy is just a 4-4 team, this Hawaii team is just not that good and I'd go with whatever points Navy is allowing, including the 17 this week.
Utah State at UNLV (+13): Even without Chuckie Keeton this Utah State team has regained its groove with freshman quarterback Darrell Garretson under center. UNLV has taken a step back after defeating Nevada by losing to San Jose State. Almost two touchdowns is a big spread, but gotta take Utah State due to their defense.
Fresno State at Wyoming (+9.5): This line just like the Air Force vs. New Mexico game as it started with Fresno State being a 12.5 point-favorite. Seems odd the odds would tilt to Wyoming's favor, especially with their inconsistent play of late. However, if the Cowboys team that showed up the first half of the season shows up then Wyoming would be an easy pick this week. However, a new defensive coordinator for Wyoming gives the edge to Fresno State to cover.
San Diego State at San Jose State (-6.5): The Aztecs have played much better the past few weeks with their offense and defense stepping up their game. San Jose State has improved of late too by winning their past four straight games. This is a tough one call early in the week, but at this time the home team gets the edge for me.
