Looks like Gary Andersen will be coaching Utah State when they make their move to the Mountain West. The school extended Andersen through the 2018 season.

The Utah State Aggies are playing in a big game on Friday night against the BYU Cougars, and earlier in the day some good news was past out by Utah State which is extending head coach Gary Andersen through the 2018 season:

"It is extremely important to me that we keep Gary and his staff in Logan long-term, and I know in my conversations with him this is exactly what he wants," said USU athletic director Scott Barnes. "We know what we have in Coach Andersen. We didn't need to wait around until the end of the season to get this deal done.

"When we hired Gary, we set out to rebuild Utah State football into a program Aggies everywhere would be proud of. He continues to do just that in every aspect of our football program."

Andersen has a record of 19-23 since he arrived in Logan, Utah, but he has gone 9-2 over his last 11 games. He will be coveted by other programs at the end of the season, assuming the season keeps going as planned.

His new contract increases his salary to $765,000 annually, plus his assistants also are getting a big bump. Unless a huge offer comes his way this offseason, which is entirely possible, expect him to be on the sidelines for Utah State for at least one more year.
