The New Mexico Lobos look find Lady Luck in Las Vegas and stop a two-game skid while the UNLV Rebels look to salvage what started as a promising season but had devolved into disaster as the Rebels find themselves snake bit at every turn. Here's a quick look at the Rebels.

The Rebels have had a bad case of the "Close, But No Cigar" this season, losing by single digits in 6 of their 8 losses this year. Only league leader the Boise State Broncos has beaten UNLV by more than 11 points this season, hanging a 32-7 loss nn the Rebels in Boise two weeks ago. Last week UNLV lost a close 24-13 decision to the San Diego State Aztecs.

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENT – UNLV: UNLV comes into their game against New Mexico having lost five straight but on a three-game winning streak at home against UNM, which has no won at Sam Boyd Stadium since winning a 39-36 overtime thriller in 2006. The Rebels enter the game ranked 82nd in Total Offense, averaging 378.33 yards per game, 72nd in passing and rushing offense and 93rd in Scoring Offense, allowing 23 points per game.

The Rebels’ defense is weak where the Lobos have been strong, coming in 103rd in rushing offense, allowing 213.33 yards per game, and 109th in Total Defense, allowing 472.33 yards per game.

ON OFFENSE: Freshman quarterback Nick Sherry is moving up the Mountain West record charts with his performances this season, going up to 6th all time with his performance last week against SDSU. Sherry has 2,001 yards on the season with 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Rebel running back Tim Cornett is 28th nationally with 938 yards on the year and six touchdowns. Marcus Sullivan and Devante Davis are the Rebel receiving corps’ top targets – Sullivan is ranked fourth in the MWC with 46 receptions for 562 yards and 4 touchdowns while Davis has 554 yards on 43 cathces with 3 touchdowns.

ON DEFENSE: Senior linebacker John Lotulelei ranks No. 1 in the MWC in tackles with 88 total – 47 solo and 41 assisted. He’s followed on the tackles list by junior linebacker Tim Hasson, who has 61 tackles on the season – 30 solo and 31 assisted. Junior transfer linebacker Parker Holloway leads UNLV with tackles for a loss with 5.5 for the year.
