Former Rice forward Marquez Letcher-Ellis has verbally committed to transfer to Nevada, multiple sources reported Tuesday.
Letcher-Ellis, a 6-7, 205-pound forward by the way of Houston, spent his first two seasons with the Rice Owls. He averaged 8.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in his first 67 career games.
Due to NCAA eligibility rules, Letcher-Ellis will have to sit out a season before playing with the Wolf Pack, which means his UNR career will begin as early as November of 2019. He will have two seasons left of NCAA eligibility.
According to Chris Murray of the Reno Gazette, Letcher-Ellis is good friends with current Nevada forward Josh Hall. Both players committed to Rice on October 25, 2014. He was a 3-star recruit and also received offers from Georgia, Texas, VCU and Xavier.
