Boise State Basketball: Guard Dezmyn Trent Arrested, Dismissed

Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

Boise State Broncos junior guard Dezmyn Trent has been dismissed from the program after an involvement with a drive-by shooting in Trent's hometown of Tacoma, Washington. The news first broke via Bleacher Report.

Dave Southorn of the Idaho Statesman provided the police report.

Head coach Leon Rice released a statement about Trent's dismissal from the team.

"This program believes strongly in offering young men an opportunity to succeed," said Rice. "Unfortunately, it appears as if Dezmyn still has some obstacles that he needs to overcome."

Trent was arrested by the Lakewood Police Department and was placed in a Pierce County Jail around 1 a.m. pacific time on Thursday. This is not Trent's first off-court incident. He was suspended the first three games last season due to a violation of team rules.

Trent was a minor player in the Broncos program, averaging fewer than 7 minutes per game, averaged 2.9 points per game, to go along with 1.8 rebounds per game.

Trent posted his career-high of 13 points against UT-Arlington, his first game with the Broncos.

Boise State's roster depth is as follows:

Freshmen: Paris Austin, Malek Harwell, Zach Haney

Sophomores: Chandler Hutchison, Chris Nealey, David Wacker

Juniors: James Webb III, Nick Duncan

Seniors: Montigo Alford, Anthony Drmic, Lonnie Jackson, James Reid (will redshirt in 2015-16)
