When it comes to football recruiting for the University of Wyoming, Colorado is basically on equal ground to the state of Wyoming. With the Denver metro only being 2-hours away or less, it is vital for the Cowboys to bring in as much talent from the metro as possible.
Luckily for Craig Bohl and his staff they have now landed their second 2015 Denver metro prospect (Aurora Gateway LB Kevin Prosser) in 5'11", 180-pound wide receiver Joseph Parker out of Greenwood Village (CO) Cherry Creek. Parker is known for his blazing speed and play making ability not only on offense but also on special teams.
Parker picked the Cowboys over scholarships from Colorado State, Northern Colorado and Holy Cross. Colorado, Kansas State, Utah State and Utah also were heavily recruiting him. In the end he really just focused on two schools in Wyoming and Colorado.
The Cowboys were lucky to secure their top remaining wide receiver target on their board after having Parker on campus for an unofficial visit to Wyoming's first ballgame of the season against Montana. He had also camped at Wyoming during the summer and that is when he received his offer from the Cowboy coaching staff. Parker is the second talented wide receiver to commit to the Pokes, with Bellevue (NE) West wide out C.J. Johnson committing back during the summer.
One major recruiting incentive the Cowboys had in getting Parker's commitment was the fact one of his best friends is already on the Wyoming roster in sophomore wide receiver Tanner Gentry. He had actually called Gentry to notify him of his pending Wyoming commitment before he talked to the coaching staff.
Parker was recruited to Wyoming by his position coach Kenni Burns.
