The Boise State Broncos landed a huge commitment for their 2015 class when four-star quarterback Brett Rypien (Shadle Park, Spokane, Wash.) during the Broncos junior day. Rypien is the nephew of former Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien, and it seems that quarterbacking runs in the family.
Rypien is the top player in the state of Washington, eighth rated pocket passer and an overall top 200 recruit in the 2015 class. The news about Rypien was first reported by Scott Enyeart of Sports Radio KJR:
Rypien via text on his commitment to Boise State: "Committed. This city is just amazing and the facilities are unbelievable"

The Bryan Harsin era at Boise State is really coming on quite nicely with this verbal commit from Rypien -- he is also the highest rated quarterack recruit in the history of the Boise State program. With this being a verbal commit there will be the issue of Boise State making sure that they can keep Rypien committed and sign on the dotted line come February.
Rypien's other offers came from Colorado State, Arizona State, Arizona, Washington, Washington State, Mississippi State, Oregon State and Idaho.
Rypien also told Enyeart why he chose Boise State over his other offers from bigger teams. "I know this program is elite, I know this coaching staff is elite. I don't care which conference I play in, I feel like we can win a lot of games here and I'm ready to be a Bronco."
Rypien is very confident in his feelings toward Boise State plus he is right that the Broncos are a great program, and he wants to be the quarterback to continue the tradition of former Boise State quarterback great who just happened to be a fellow Washington high school prep Kellen Moore.
Having a quarterback highly rated as Rypien can do wonders in getting other top talented players to come to Boise State, by being another recruiter to get the best player to come to town.
Here is a bit of what ESPN recruiting says about Rypien:
Has intangibles at the position. A quick decision maker who gets the ball out on time. Displays the ability to fit the ball into tight windows. Flashes the ability to extend plays with his feet but he isn't going to beat you running the football. Has good lower body mechanics and does a nice job stepping into his throws.
