2014 Boise State football recruiting: 4-star TE Chase Blakley flips from Washington, picks Broncos

TE Chase Blakley - Student Sports

Boise State earned a huge get Tuesday night by landing the nation's eighth best tight end in Chase Blakley of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, previously he was committed to Washington.

The Boise State coaching staff earned a huge commitment Tuesday night when four-star tight end Chase Blakley (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) decided to choose Boise State after being committed to Washington since May. This local product is a four-star tight end and the eighth best tight end, according to Rivals.

This change is big for Boise State considering that this change of heart by Blakley is coming before he takes his official visit to the Broncos which is scheduled for this weekend, he visited Washington this past weekend.

Blakley is a huge target standing at 6-feet-5-inches and 240 pounds, and in his senior year he dominated on the field with 47 receptions for 762 yards and 11 touchdowns; more impressive is that the tight end averaged 16 yards per catch.

Boise State has not had a really good tight end since Kyle Efaw was a Bronco last in 2011, and that position was a key factor. Efaw had 103 career receptions 1,271 yards and 13 touchdowns; Blakley could make the tight end position a big weapon under Bryan Harsin's offense going forward.

Knowing what Harsin did with Boise State offenses in the past the more weapons the better. Also, adding Blakley gives Boise State a pair of four-star recruits, the other being defensive back Dylan Sumner-Gardner.
