Chuckie Keeton injury update: Utah State quarterback to be back on the field in June

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton is expected to be healthy enough from his ACL tear to participate in June workouts with team.

Oct. 4, 2013 was a tragic day for Utah State football when Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton went down with an ACL and MCL tear against BYU. The Aggies football season ended pretty close to what it would have with Keeton in the lineup or not as they made it to the Mountain West title game, and then upset Northern Illinois in the Poinsettia Bowl.

The news keeps getting better and better for Utah State as Keeton is expected to be a part of June workouts for Utah State, per Dan Wolken.

June would put Keeton right around eight months from his injury, so seeing him being able to participate in summer workouts is good news. That puts him about 10 weeks out from fall camp in mid-August, 12 from their opener at Tennessee, to be able to test the knee and see how it reacts to workouts.

That Tennessee game is 10 months out from his injury and going off of how the recovery time of ACL tears have shortened due to advances in medical technology seeing Keeton at 100 percent in just under a year is not a stretch.

Hearing that Keeton is on track to return means there have been no hiccups in his recovery from his torn ACL is great news for Utah State.

However, a lot more will be known once August comes around and Keeton is on the field during camp, and while he more than likely will not be taking any hits in fall camp he will be on the field a lot running the offense. Being on the practice field that much will make post-practice treatment very important and watching out for how much the knee swells from the demanding work.
