For the second time since 2010 former Broncos head coach Dan Hawkins has been fired. Hawkins was hired by the Montreal Alouettes on February 19, and lasted only five games before being sacked. He had previously coached Boise State from 2001-2005 and won four Western Athletic Conference titles before being lured to Colorado where he compiled a disappointing 19-39 record from 2006 to 2010. Under Hawkins the Alouettes have struggled to a 2-3 record which was enough for the team to sack the coach Thursday during a bye week. Former Montreal head coach Jim Popp will step in now at midseason. It was Hawkins’ first attempt at coaching a profession football team.
