2013 New Mexico Bowl, Colorado State vs. Washington halftime score update: Cougars lead Rams, 35-23

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Washington State's passing offense is running on all cylinders, and lead Colorado State 35-23 at the half.

The 2013 New Mexico is playing out just like the 2012 version with a lot of points, and possibly another comeback in the making. Washington State's Connor Halliday has already set a career-high and New Mexico Bowl record with five touchdown passes, in just the first half of this game. Those five passing touchdowns gives the Cougars a 35-23 lead at the half.

Colorado State has had their miscues as they have coughed up the ball two times and that led to 14 Washington State points, so if not for those turnovers Colorado State could be leading this game at the half. Despite the interception for Garrett Grayson, he is having a pretty good game and has completed 15 of 27 passes for 234 yards. However, Colorado State would be wise to not get into a shootout with Washington State. Kapri Bibbs needs to be given the ball a lot -- or any other running back -- to keep the Cougars offense on the sideline, and through the first half Bibbs has 56 yards on 15 carries.

Washington State looked to be running away in this game when they took a 35-13 lead late in the second half, but Colorado State rattled off a quick 10 points. The Rams drove nine plays for 75 yards in just 1:49 which was capped off on a 1-yard touchdown run by Bibbs.

On the next drive Colorado State forced Washington State on a three-and-out and on the punt Colorado State took over at the Cougars 40-yard line. The Rams were unable to get a touchdown but they did convert a 30-yard field goal to make it a 12-point game at the half.

Colorado State does get the ball to start the half so the Rams are in a good position to get back in this game.
