Fresno State's blowout win over New Mexico had a positive effect in the latest rankings, and more importantly the USA Today coaches poll which is the one that really matter. The Bulldogs moved up to No. 13 from No. 16 and created a larger gap between them and Northern Illinois. The Huskies moved up one spot No. 20, but the gap widen between the two schools to 228 points which is a 25-point increase from last week to this week.
Fresno State moved up since Texas A&M lost to LSU, UCLA lost to Arizona State and they jumped over Louisville. The gap between Fresno State and Illinois in the human polls is likely to be enough even if the computers still prefer Northern Illinois instead.
In the Harris poll, Fresno State moved up from No. 14 to 13, while Northern Illinois also moved up one spot to No. 17.
The AP poll which does not matter towards a BCS bowl game actually dropped Fresno State one spot from No. 15 to 16. Arizona State and LSU jumped Fresno State after their ranked wins, and Wisconsin jumped Fresno State after their win over Minnesota.
Here are all three polls.
