Boise State continues to recruit to fill the vacancies that will be created from losing 14 scholarship seniors at the end of this season. With additional scholarships and attrition, the Broncos could be looking to fill up to 20 positions in their 2014 team. They got closer to filling those slots this past week with two new commits. One was OT Troy Bacon, 6-3, 281 lbs, a three-star rated senior out of Apple Valley HS in Apple Valley, California. Bacon committed Sunday after considering offers from Washington State, TCU and Colorado State. Bacon is Boise State’s sixth 2014 recruit out of California.
Another big addition was from the pool of local talent. ATH Kekoa Nawahine, 6-2 , 190 lbs, is a dual-sport letterman out of Rocky Mountain HS, in Meridain, Idaho. He joins high school teammate DB Khalil Oliver who committed to the Broncos earlier this year. No word yet on the position Nawahine was recruited for but he is a versatile player at WR or safety and fits the mold as what head coach Chris Petersen calls an OKG (Our Kind of Guy).
In college football recruiting its always two steps forward and one step back where a verbal commitment is often the only binding agreement. And Boise State is no exception to that rule. Since August the Broncos have lost four verbals to other programs. Still, with these latest two additions the 2014 class is looking pretty solid.
The eleven confirmed commitments to Boise State in the 2014 class:
DB Khalil Oliver, 6-1, 185, Rocky Mountain HS, Meridian, ID.
QB Jalen Greene, 6-3, 194, Serra HS, Los Angeles, CA.
CB Brandon Lewis, 5-11, 180, Pleasant Grove HS, Elk Grove, CA.
DL Greg Gaines, 6-1, 290, La Habra HS, La Habra, CA.
TE Drew Sample, 6-4, 235, Newport HS, Newport, WA.

ATH Kekoa Nawahine, 6-2 , 190 lbs, Rocky Mountain HS, Meridain, ID.
OT Troy Bacon, 6-3, 281 lbs, Apple Valley HS, Apple Valley, CA.
