UNLV hires Timm Rosenbach to be new offensive coordinator

Brian Losness-US PRESSWIRE

UNLV made a change at their coordinator position by hiring Timm Rosenbach to run the offense.

The UNLV Rebels offense has been, to be nice, inconsistent every since Bobby Hauck took over the program a few years ago. The school is now going with their third offensive coordinator in as many seasons, with the hire of Weber State's offensive coordinator Timm Rosenbach. He did not last long at Weber State as Rosenbach was hired on Nov. 21 to run the Wildcats offense before leaving for the UNLV gig.

Rosenbach replaces Brent Myers who was let go after one season as play caller and offensive coordinator, and prior to Myers the offensive coordinator was Rob Phenicie, who is still an offensive position coach.

Rosenbach was at Montana for one season running their offense, as mentioned briefly at Weber State, he spent two seasons running the offense for New Mexico State. In college he played at Washington State from 1986-88 and had a brief stint in the NFL, plus the CFL.

Rosenbach is excited to be back coaching at the FBS level, and with former colleague Hauck:

"I'm thrilled about the opportunity to not only work for Coach Hauck but also to be part of a program at UNLV that I believe is headed in the right direction," Rosenbach said in a statement. "I'm looking forward to coaching an offense that is exciting for fans and puts points on the scoreboard."

UNLV showed some signs of life with Nick Sherry at quarterback and running back Tim Cornett having a solid junior campaign, however the overall offense was stagnant. With UNLV not being a very good team on offense they did not have many choices at the offensive coordinator position, and Rosenbach earned the job due his relationship with Hauck.

He has the experience as a coordinator, but he will need to be creative to get this UNLV offense to be a more consistent and productive unit.
