Wyoming travels to Colorado on Wednesday night (9 p.m. ET on the Pac-12 Network) in a big early season test for the Cowboys. Colorado is 1-1 and their one loss is to Baylor -- who is ranked No. 23 in the AP and No. 25 in the coaches poll -- with their win being over UT-Martin.
That loss to Baylor knocked the Buffaloes out of the rankings, but they are just on the outside looking in. Both Wyoming and Colorado have played UT-Martin with the Cowboys winning 78-60, while the Buffaloes won 91-65.
To get to know more about Colorado we reached out to Ralphie Report which is SB Nation's Colorado community to get to know them better.
1. What did Colorado learn about themselves in the loss to Baylor to open the season?
Colorado discovered that they still struggle offensively in the half-court and have trouble if Spencer Dinwiddie is not aggressive enough. They also discovered that the four new freshman, Dustin Thomas, George King, Jaron Hopkins, and Tre'Shaun Fletcher, along with redshirt freshman Wesley Gordon who had 9 points and 8 rebounds, will have an impact for this team in every game this season.
2. Who are the key players for Colorado?
The key players for Colorado are Spencer Dinwiddie, Josh Scott, and Xavier Johnson. Dinwiddie is the team's best player; he can shoot from outside, get to the free throw line and uses his size to match up well with other guards. Scott is tremendous down low and is a great offensive rebounder. Johnson is the most versatile player on Colorado because he can score inside and hit from long range. He also finishes well on the fast-break.
3. Both teams played UT-Martin with Colorado having a better showing, do you expect the Buffaloes to dominant Wyoming?
No, I don't expect the Buffaloes to dominate Wyoming, but I think Colorado should be able to win this game. The Buffs have lost the past two years they've played Wyoming and will not play as sluggishly as they did in those previous games. Look for Spencer Dinwiddie to have a big game as the Buffs pull away in the second half because of the superior depth and talent they have in comparison to Wyoming.
4. What is the style of play expected on offense and defense for Colorado?
The style of play on offense for Colorado is to try and push the ball in transition as much as possible. The altitude factor won't come into play at Coors Event Center like it usually does against Wyoming, but the offense is clearly better when the ball is in Spencer Dinwiddie's hands in transition when he can either get to the rim or dish off to the perimeter for open shots.
Defensively, the Buffaloes focus on not allowing easy baskets and second chances inside and want to never miss closing out on a shot. The perimeter defense can be shaky at times allowing inside penetration, but the guards remain active in passing lanes and create turnovers.
5. What is your prediction for this game?
My prediction for the game is a 65-54 win for Colorado because Wyoming won't be able to contain all the talent that Tad Boyle can put on the floor.
