The New Mexico Lobos have added another team to their 2013 schedule as they will be traveling to SEC land to take on the Texas A&M Aggies. This is a one-time game that will pay New Mexico $1 million and if either team cancels they would owe the other school that same amount.
This will be a difficult opponent for New Mexico who is a massive rebuilding project and while Texas A&M is not a college football power they are a team that at worst should be a top-50 team, and likely a loss for New Mexico next season.
This is somewhat of a homecoming for New Mexico head coach Bob Davie who was a linebackers coach and defensive coordinator for Texas A&M from 1985-1993.
The non-conference schedule is now complete for New Mexico in 2013. They will play UTSA at home (Aug. 31), travel to UTEP (Sept. 7), host New Mexico State (Oct. 5) and finally travel to Texas A&M (Nov. 16).
