Coach Chow has re-opened the competition for the back-up QB position. We all know Chow was impressed by Schroeder which made him the outright starter but Chow was not impressed with the inconsistency of Jeremy Higgins.
Higgins had his up and downs throwing 16 and 20 yard completions and connected with WR Chris Gant for a touchdown. But several over head incompletions and an interception by safety Leroy Lutu on a crossing pass, Chow was not impressed by that. That is why he will give HIggins and freshman Ikaika Woolsey split reps with the second team offense.
Cayman Shutter, who is suspended for a DUI charge, will not be able to play for one month but is able to practice with the scout team.
Former starter QB David Graves is still doing QB drills on the side but is competing for one of the starting spots at wide receiver.
Injury notes: DL Calen Friel is out this season after suffering a fractured fibula during yesterday's practice.
Extra notes: Today's practice will be at Aloha Stadium. They will have a practice and the coaches will have a walk through with them being up in the booth like it's gameday. This year with the new Chow era comes new traditions. The Warrior team will bus from the Manoa Campus to Aloha Stadium and have them drop off by the main entrance by the ticket counters. They will then do the "Warrior walk" like most college football teams and have fans greet them to the entrance to the stadium. In years past the team gets dropped off at the bottom of the ramp into the stadium and they walk the length of the field to the locker rooms. The fans aren't able to greet or see them because the gates aren't open yet to the stadium.
